Do all women get hot flushes during menopause?

No, not all women experience hot flushes during menopause, but they are the most common menopausal symptom, affecting the majority of women.

Clinical Context

Women should be reassured that a range of experiences is normal in menopause. Support is available for those with and without vasomotor symptoms. If you do not have hot flushes, it does not mean menopause is not occurring.

Evidence-Based Approaches

Current evidence shows that hot flushes are the most frequent symptom, but up to 30% of women may avoid them entirely. See NICE menopause guidance for a full list of symptoms and support options.
