Does vaginal atrophy cause vaginal odor?

Vaginal atrophy itself does not usually cause strong odour, but dryness and changes in pH can increase risk of infection, which may cause vaginal odour.

Clinical Context

New or persistent odour should always be checked for infection, and effective management of atrophy helps maintain vaginal health.

Evidence-Based Approaches

Guidelines recommend treating underlying atrophy and checking for infection if odour is present. RCOG: Atrophy, Infection & Odour.
