Can testosterone cream help with vaginal atrophy?

Testosterone cream is not routinely recommended for vaginal atrophy. Current evidence suggests oestrogen therapies are most effective, but testosterone may be considered for sexual dysfunction or low libido alongside atrophy in select cases.

Clinical Context

Testosterone cream may be considered for low libido, not atrophy itself. Oestrogen remains the primary treatment for vaginal atrophy.

Evidence-Based Approaches

UK and international guidelines do not routinely recommend testosterone for atrophy but do support its use for sexual dysfunction after menopause. RCOG: Testosterone Use in Women.
