Pelvic Floor Exercises: Not One Size Fits All

Pelvic floor exercise advice is widely shared, yet the same instruction may not fit every symptom. The pelvic floor works through coordination: it needs to tighten for some tasks and relax for others. Symptoms are not always explained by weakness alone.
Technique can also be difficult to assess without guidance. Breath-holding, straining or substituting nearby muscles may change the movement, while pain or difficulty relaxing can point to a different need.
If you experience leakage, pelvic heaviness, pain, constipation or difficulty emptying your bladder or bowel, consider seeking an appropriate assessment. Advice can then reflect your symptoms and technique.
